GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The primary responsibility of this position is to prepare and analyze all activity on assigned entities. This includes the planning and managing of all deadlines related to these entities as well as analysis and variance explanations for all preparation assignments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Prepare monthly journal entries for assigned entities.
- Review payables on daily basis.
- Maintain records for deposit activity into bank accounts
- Work closely with Cash Manager to obtain needed documentation for deposit activity
- Perform regular reconciliation and analysis of balance sheet, income statement and bank statements as well as general ledger. Provide variance explanations where necessary.
- Prepare detailed by month and by year (where applicable) cash projections for cash management purposes on a monthly basis along with variance analysis compared to last presentation.
- Prepare monthly cash receipts and disbursement schedules for any clients that receive monthly distributions.
- Prepare and review periodic, quarterly, and year-end tax and current value basis financial statements for compliance reporting, providing variance explanations compared to last presentation.
- Support supervisor with personalized financial services to owners, trustees, and beneficiaries.
- Reconcile financial statements to various tax documents received (i.e., 1099-MISC) and provide information to internal tax department to assist with tax return preparation for assigned entities.
- Review and/or prepare final annual tax and current value basis financial statement packages for compliance reporting and beneficiaries.
- Have a working knowledge of all investments in which assigned entities are invested.
- Quarterly close responsibilities of assigned entities.
- Analyze accounts against treasury software platforms
- Prepare work papers for outside auditors
- Prepare special projects as assigned and complete projects independently.
- Maintain relevant schedules, backup and files related to assigned entities.
- Serve as a back up to peers and others, as necessary.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or related field or equivalent experience.
- 2 to 4 years accounting experience – industry or public accounting.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage workflow and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and tax basis of accounting.
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel, Word and other Windows applications as well as working knowledge of basic accounting software.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
