Position Overview: We are assisting our client seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Controller to join their onshore team. The Assistant Controller will be integral for financial operations, having a dedication to accuracy, and making contributions to the overall financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of oil and gas accounting principles, strong analytical skills and a solid foundation of understanding in accounting.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations and accounting standards.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- General Ledger Management:
- Ensure transactions are recorded timely and accurately by maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Monitoring budget performance over the different quarters and providing variance analysis.
- Creating and analyzing financial forecasts
- Audit and Compliance:
- Provide necessary documentation and explanations while supporting internal and external audit processes.
- Have a keen eye for internal controls, policies and procedures.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, preparing all necessary supporting information, and address audit findings in a timely manner.
- Data Analysis:
- Identify trends, patterns, and insights that supports business decision making.
- Analyze financial data and prepare detailed reports for management to review.
- Process Improvement:
- Streamline financial processes.
- Identify opportunities to implement improvements in accounting procedures.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in and knowledge of the Oil and Gas industry is required. Onshore experience is highly preferred/required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- CPA designation highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive experience in oil and gas accounting and finance roles.
- Data Analytics expertise highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including experience with financial reporting and analysis.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven leadership abilities with a track record of successfully managing teams and driving results.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
