Our client is seeking an experienced Staff Engineer, Applied AI to lead a team of AI Engineers and Data Scientists responsible for developing, deploying, and managing enterprise AI solutions. This individual will provide technical leadership, drive AI initiatives from concept through production, and partner with business stakeholders to deliver measurable business results.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Applied AI Engineers and Data Scientists.

• Oversee the full AI/ML lifecycle, including model development, deployment, monitoring, and optimization.

• Establish technical standards and best practices for AI engineering, MLOps, and production deployment.

• Develop and implement solutions involving Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), predictive analytics, and intelligent automation.

• Partner with Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, and business stakeholders to identify and execute AI initiatives.

• Evaluate AI technologies, platforms, and vendors while driving technical strategy and roadmap development.

• Ensure AI solutions are scalable, reliable, secure, and aligned with business objectives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: 10+ years in Data Science, Machine Learning, or Applied AI Engineering, including 3+ years managing technical teams.

• Programming & ML Frameworks: Advanced Python, scikit-learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow, and pandas.

• Generative AI & LLMs: Hands-on experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering, model evaluation, and fine-tuning.

• Production AI/ML: Proven experience deploying, monitoring, and maintaining machine learning models in production environments.

• MLOps: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, model versioning, drift detection, automated retraining, and infrastructure automation.

• Cloud Platforms: AWS (SageMaker, Bedrock) or comparable cloud-based AI/ML technologies.

• Data Technologies: Strong SQL skills and experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or similar enterprise data platforms.

• Leadership: Demonstrated experience managing AI/ML technical teams, establishing technical direction, and delivering enterprise AI solutions.

• Business Impact: Ability to translate business requirements into AI solutions and demonstrate measurable business outcomes.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in a related field.

• AWS or other cloud certifications.

• Experience in restaurant, retail, consumer services, or multi-location business environments.

• Experience with computer vision, forecasting, and intelligent automation.

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
