The Accounting Manager oversees daily accounting operations and ensures accurate, timely financial reporting for a multi-entity healthcare organization. This role leads the month-end close process, supports annual audit readiness, strengthens internal controls, and partners cross-functionally to improve processes and reporting accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
- Manage close timelines and coordinate deliverables across accounting, billing, payroll, AP, and operations teams.
- Maintain audit readiness and coordinate annual external audit activities.
- Review general ledger activity and balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy and compliance.
- Support revenue recognition and reconciliation processes related to healthcare services.
- Monitor key accounting areas including cash, accruals, fixed assets, leases, and intercompany activity.
- Develop and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, promoting accountability and professional growth.
- Partner with operational and support teams to resolve reporting issues and improve efficiency.
- Assist with process improvements, system implementations, acquisitions, and business integrations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
- Healthcare industry experience preferred, especially home health, hospice, or post-acute care.
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- CPA or CPA-track preferred.
