Purpose of Role
A publicly traded company is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its team. This position will collaborate cross-functionally with key stakeholders, play a key role in managing month-end and quarter-end close processes, and assist in developing new or refining existing processes while ensuring adherence to accounting policies and controls.
Job Description

Assist in managing month-end and quarter-end close processes

Review select journal entries and account reconciliations

Ensure the established internal controls framework is adhered to

Assist in managing the external audit process
-
Contribute to technical accounting research, projects, and implementation of new accounting standards or non-standard transactions

Spearhead process improvement or system change projects impacting the General Ledger and accounting function
-
Contribute to preparation and review of 10-Q, 10-K, and other SEC filings
-
Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as FP&A, Legal, Operations, and Tax on recurring and ad hoc reporting requests

Prepare financial analyses, including variance analysis against budget and evaluation of key business drivers

Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support for development

Partner with other departments to support overall organizational goals and objectives
Span of Control

Responsible for leading one or more distinct functional areas

May manage external vendor relationships

Work deliverables are often self-initiated
Typical Minimum Education & Experience; Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required

Demonstrated relevant experience required

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred but not required
-
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role

Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite

Strong leadership and team management capabilities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities

Strong oral and written communication skills
