We are assisting our client in seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Tax Senior to join their corporate income tax group. This position offers the unique opportunity to take on a senior supervisory-level role with the potential for rapid advancement to a managerial position and taking on a leadership role within the tax department. The successful candidate will play a large role in overseeing and optimizing the corporate tax functions and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
REPORTS TO: Tax Manager
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or a related field
- 4+ years of relevant experience in corporate income tax with a focus on compliance
- Intermediate/advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritize deadlines
- Must be willing to work some weekends and evenings as required to meet reporting deadlines
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Tax or Business Administration
- CPA certification or CPA eligible
- Proficiency in Thomson Reuters OneSource Income Tax software
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The job functions include a broad variety of tax matters including, but not limited to the following:
- Prepare and oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local income returns for the company and other affiliated entities.
- Assist with income tax provision compliance & financial statements audit to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Prepare and review state modification and apportionment schedules
- Maintain tax basis depreciation records and intangible asset schedules
- Prepare and review quarterly tax estimates and year-end projections.
- Analyze and reconcile various tax-related general ledger accounts: deferred tax balances, income tax expense, and Federal and state tax payable accounts.
- Manage and assist with Federal, state income & franchise tax audits.
- Manage state tax controversy matters including notices and adjustments.
- Coordinate, prepare, and oversee annual reports filings.
- Research and maintain a working knowledge of state income/franchise tax developments.
- Maintain federal, state, and local tax calendar.
- Collaborate with other departments within the organization and provide assistance as needed.
- Manage relationships with external tax consultants and provide guidance on the implementation of various tax planning strategies.
