General Overview: Responsible for accurate and timely accounting of the organization’s fixed assets, including capital projects.
Responsibilities:
- Oversight of recording fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions accurately in the accounting system.
- Create, monitor, and enhance a robust system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recording of fixed assets.
- Recommend updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets.
- Review fixed asset transactions for compliance with Company policy.
- Monitor company expenditures for fixed assets, comparing them to the capital budget and management authorizations.
- Work with operations management to validate the existence of fixed assets and timely disposals.
- Oversight and analysis of depreciation calculations for all fixed assets.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger.
- Prepare audit schedules related to fixed assets and assist auditors during their inquiries.
- Prepare and provide recommendations on opportunities to improve processes and changes to company policies and procedures.
- Accountable for the monthly fixed asset accounting close process and related reconciliation, reporting (fixed asset roll-forward, CAPEX, etc.) and tracking
- Assist with internal and external audit requests.
- Work on special projects and perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related, accredited field required
- Experience in public accounting (regional or Big 4) required
- Experience with a publicly-traded company preferred
- Sage system experience preferred
- Minimum 1 years’ experience within an Accounting environment.
- CPA or active pursuit required
