Our client is a small to mid-size company seeking a Senior Accountant to manage core accounting activities and support the continued development of its finance function. Reporting to the VP of Finance, this individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, completing the monthly close, and ensuring the company remains prepared for audits and reporting deadlines.
The position offers a strong growth path for an accounting professional interested in expanding into FP&A over time.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including billing, accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations.
• Complete month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and closing procedures.
• Assist with the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
• Administer the corporate credit card and employee expense process, including receipt collection, coding, and reconciliation.
• Reconcile payroll and employee benefit activity each month.
• Prepare short-term and monthly cash forecasts.
• Maintain accurate revenue and expense reporting across departments.
• Support the annual external audit and respond to auditor requests.
• Assist with federal, state, local, sales, and property-related tax reporting.
• Support regulatory compliance, corporate insurance administration, and related documentation.
• Assist with employee time-tracking, utilization reporting, and purchasing activities.
• Maintain organized, complete, and audit-ready accounting records.
• Partner with finance leadership on variance analysis, departmental reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Take on additional accounting and analytical responsibilities as the role develops.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting procedures.
• 4+ years of well-rounded accounting experience, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookup functions.
• Experience with QuickBooks or a comparable accounting platform.
• Familiarity with business intelligence, dashboard, or financial reporting tools preferred.
• Ability to manage detailed transactional work accurately and meet recurring deadlines.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a growing, fast-paced environment where responsibilities may evolve.
• High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
• Genuine interest in developing broader financial analysis and FP&A capabilities.
• Experience with project, client, or department-based accounting preferred.
• Exposure to payroll, benefits, expense management, or procurement processes preferred.
• Experience with payroll, CRM, or corporate expense platforms preferred.
