Summary:
Our client is searching for a Senior Accountant to oversee and develop a team of staff accountants, ensuring timely, accurate financial statement preparation in compliance with GAAP. This role focuses on monitoring operational outcomes, supporting management reporting, and maintaining strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor staff accountants during month-end close processes for multiple entities, ensuring accurate transaction recording, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Review and analyze financial statements, document variances, and communicate insights to site managers and corporate leaders.
- Prepare and oversee bank reconciliations and sales tax filings, addressing discrepancies and supporting tax compliance.
- Collaborate on budget preparation for operational and capital expenditures, providing guidance to site and corporate teams.
- Ensure adherence to accounting policies, internal controls, and GAAP while identifying and implementing procedural improvements.
- Act as a key resource for problem-solving, supporting cross-functional collaboration, and contributing to system upgrades, including ERP implementations.
- Safeguard company assets through compliance with established policies and controls.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 3–6 years of relevant experience; CPA preferred but not required.
- Supervisory experience (1–2 years) and expertise in managing monthly close cycles across multiple locations.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with systems like Great Plains Dynamics, FYIsoft, or Anaplan.
- Background in multi-unit accounting, hospitality, or property management is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to lead and develop a team.
