Senior Staff Accountant
The Senior Staff Accountant will play a key role in day-to-day and period-end accounting activities, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of financial information across the organization. This position supports financial reporting, planning, and analysis efforts, working closely with the Controller to uphold compliance standards and contribute to broader financial objectives. The role is heavily involved in month-end and year-end close, account reconciliations, and audit preparation, helping to ensure timely and precise financial results.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records, including journal entries, general ledger activity, and monthly close tasks.
- Manage the full accounts receivable process and ensure the validity of all AR-related transactions.
- Assist with drafting and reviewing financial statements in alignment with GAAP and internal reporting standards.
- Perform detailed account reviews and reconciliations (e.g., bank accounts, intercompany activity, balance sheet accounts).
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports and financial statement analyses.
- Support budgeting and forecasting by supplying key financial insights and variance analyses.
- Assist with internal and external audit activities by gathering documentation, preparing schedules, and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Prepare and submit tax filings, regulatory documentation, and other compliance-related reporting.
- Monitor adherence to internal controls, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Recommend and support process improvements to enhance accuracy, workflow efficiency, and reporting quality.
- Participate in special initiatives such as system enhancements, new software implementations, or operational improvement projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on general ledger and financial reporting responsibilities.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and core accounting concepts.
- Proficiency with accounting systems (QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Lawson, etc.) and strong Excel abilities, including data analysis.
- Excellent analytical thinking, organization, and time management, with strong attention to detail.
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments and work in a team-oriented environment.
