Our client is searching for a high-performing Plant Controller to lead the financial management of their manufacturing operations. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving financial discipline, operational efficiency, and strategic insights at the plant level. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in manufacturing finance, a passion for process improvement, and the ability to partner cross-functionally to enhance performance and profitability.
This role demands more than just accounting expertise—it requires hands-on leadership, a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, and a commitment to supporting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Leadership & Strategic Support
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to Plant Management, Operations, and Corporate Finance.
- Translate operational data into meaningful financial insights to support real-time decision making.
- Develop and present actionable reporting and KPI dashboards to plant and executive leadership.
- Drive initiatives to improve EBITDA, cash flow, and working capital performance.
- Cost Accounting & Margin Analysis
- Lead full lifecycle cost accounting, including establishing and maintaining accurate standard costs.
- Analyze cost variances for labor, materials, overhead, and yield; provide detailed root cause explanations.
- Perform margin analysis and monitor profitability by product line, SKU, customer, or segment.
- Continuously evaluate cost structures and identify opportunities for savings and efficiency.
- Inventory & Material Control
- Ensure accurate and timely inventory valuation across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- Oversee cycle counts, physical inventory, and reconciliation of inventory discrepancies.
- Analyze material consumption and scrap rates, supporting better planning and procurement decisions.
- Drive continuous improvement in inventory accuracy and turnover metrics
- Monthly Close & Reporting
- Manage all aspects of the plant’s monthly financial close—journal entries, accruals, reconciliations.
- Ensure integrity of plant-level financial statements and alignment with corporate reporting.
- Prepare and deliver detailed variance analysis (actuals vs. budget/forecast/prior period).
- Support internal and external audit processes with complete and accurate documentation.
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Capital Planning
- Lead plant-level annual budgeting and monthly/quarterly forecasting processes.
- Track and forecast manufacturing costs, headcount, capex, and operational metrics.
- Support evaluation and financial justification of capital investments (ROI, NPV, payback).
- Ensure disciplined capex tracking and reporting in line with corporate expectations.
- Controls, Compliance & Process Improvement
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with corporate policies and GAAP.
- Identify and implement improvements to financial processes, systems, and reporting.
- Champion a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement
within the plant.
Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; CPA required.
- 8+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing plant controller or cost accounting leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory control, and operational finance.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Sage 100); proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead financial operations, influence non-financial stakeholders, and support strategic initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills with a proactive, hands-on, and problem-solving mindset.
