Position Overview
Our client is a well-established, privately held organization seeking a Finance & Planning Manager to join its corporate finance team in Dallas. This individual will play a key role in company-wide financial planning, forecasting, modeling, and decision support while managing and developing a team of financial analysts.
The Finance & Planning Manager will work closely with senior leadership and business-unit teams to evaluate operating performance, assess strategic opportunities, develop long-range financial forecasts, and provide financial analysis supporting key business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and continuously improve the company’s integrated financial planning and forecasting models, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow projections.
- Manage monthly forecasting processes and support preparation of recurring management reporting packages.
- Develop pro forma financial statements, liquidity forecasts, cash flow projections, and other forward-looking analyses.
- Partner with operating and functional leaders to understand business assumptions, operational drivers, capital requirements, costs, risks, and opportunities.
- Develop and maintain long-term financial forecasts and strategic planning models.
- Perform scenario and sensitivity analyses under varying business, market, and operating assumptions.
- Evaluate the financial impact of potential acquisitions, divestitures, financing activities, and other strategic initiatives.
- Support capital structure, liquidity, and investment-related analysis.
- Prepare ad hoc financial analyses for executive leadership, the Board of Directors, lenders, and other stakeholders.
- Translate complex financial information into clear recommendations and decision-making tools for senior leadership.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of financial analysts.
- Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Treasury, Operations, and other areas of the organization.
- Support additional financial planning, risk management, and strategic finance initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- Approximately 7+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, strategic finance, or a related discipline.
- Prior experience managing, mentoring, or developing financial professionals.
- Strong financial modeling skills, including extensive experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and financial statement analysis.
- Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles.
- Ability to build and interpret integrated financial models and perform scenario and sensitivity analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with business leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information to senior leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
Preferred Experience
- Experience within an asset-intensive, energy, industrial, or similarly complex operating environment is beneficial but not required.
- Exposure to acquisitions, divestitures, capital structure analysis, or other strategic transactions is a plus.
- Experience with commodity markets, financial derivatives, or risk-management activities is helpful but not required.
- Experience with enterprise planning or financial reporting platforms is a plus.
- Familiarity with emerging AI tools and their application within finance is beneficial.
