Director of Program Finance
Position Overview:
The Director of Program Finance for a prominent business unit within the aerospace and defense sector will be responsible for managing the financial operations and reporting for the division, which includes multiple subsidiaries. This role will oversee the unit’s financial processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP and FAR standards, while also ensuring that all regulatory reporting obligations are met in a timely and accurate manner. The Director will serve as a strategic financial leader, guiding the financial execution and supporting business performance across the division.
This position requires a blend of strong financial expertise and a deep understanding of manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will be skilled in managing complex financial activities, leading cost-reduction initiatives, improving operational processes, and adapting to a rapidly evolving business environment. A core responsibility will be collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that financial goals align with the broader operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all financial operations within the business unit, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and reporting procedures.
- Prepare both internal and external financial statements, accompanied by detailed analysis.
- Monitor key performance metrics, providing senior leadership with variance analysis of actual performance versus budget and previous forecasts.
- Leverage financial analysis to propose cost management strategies aimed at improving profitability and cash flow.
- Lead the annual budgeting process in partnership with other functional leaders across the unit.
- Perform detailed financial analysis to support decision-making and operational improvements.
- Act as the primary liaison between the business unit and corporate headquarters on financial matters.
- Prepare and review indirect cost rates used for pricing and financial proposals.
- Prepare and review customer bids and proposals, ensuring they align with financial objectives.
- Lead financial audits, both internal and external, and ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, with at least 12 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a Master’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of related experience.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: Program Cost Management, Financial Planning and Analysis, Budgeting, Cost Rates, Earned Value Management, and Manufacturing Process Finance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the aerospace or defense sectors, particularly in government contracting.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to partner effectively with other business functions.
- A strategic, global perspective, with a proven track record of delivering results against ambitious targets.
- Experience in leading process improvement initiatives and implementing financial systems or process changes.
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret complex issues and communicate them effectively.
- Expertise in advanced Excel functions for financial modeling and analysis.
