The Director, Finance & Accounting strengthens financial systems, enhances reporting, and ensures effective resource management across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Oversight
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff across AP, AR, payroll, and reconciliations.
- Lead monthly and annual close processes and produce accurate financial statements.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit standards.
Compliance & Audit
- Oversee annual audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors.
- Manage 1099 filings and IRS Form 990 in partnership with tax advisors.
- Ensure timely completion of all regulatory and compliance filings.
Financial Planning
- Lead the annual budget process with the Controller and department leaders.
- Provide financial analysis to support strategic decisions.
- Monitor budgets and support forecasting and long?range planning.
Financial Reporting & Governance Support
- Prepare financial reports for Executive Leadership, the Finance Committee, and the Board.
- Develop presentations and financial materials to support leadership discussions.
- Analyze performance trends and highlight risks and opportunities.
- Support development of dashboards and KPIs.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Oversee financial systems and reporting within Sage Intacct.
- Drive process improvements to enhance automation, reporting, and efficiency.
- Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Manage accounting staff, set goals, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Partner with the Controller and Finance leadership on continuous improvement initiatives.
- Model companies culture and foster a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or active CPA candidate strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years supervising.
- Experience with Sage Intacct, Ramp, and Martus preferred.
- Nonprofit accounting background and private restrictive funding preferred.
