Director, Finance & Accounting 10602
The Director, Finance & Accounting strengthens financial systems, enhances reporting, and ensures effective resource management across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Oversight

• Supervise and mentor accounting staff across AP, AR, payroll, and reconciliations.
• Lead monthly and annual close processes and produce accurate financial statements.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit standards.

Compliance & Audit

• Oversee annual audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors.
• Manage 1099 filings and IRS Form 990 in partnership with tax advisors.
• Ensure timely completion of all regulatory and compliance filings.

Financial Planning

• Lead the annual budget process with the Controller and department leaders.
• Provide financial analysis to support strategic decisions.
• Monitor budgets and support forecasting and long?range planning.

Financial Reporting & Governance Support

• Prepare financial reports for Executive Leadership, the Finance Committee, and the Board.
• Develop presentations and financial materials to support leadership discussions.
• Analyze performance trends and highlight risks and opportunities.
• Support development of dashboards and KPIs.

Systems & Process Improvement

• Oversee financial systems and reporting within Sage Intacct.
• Drive process improvements to enhance automation, reporting, and efficiency.
• Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Manage accounting staff, set goals, and conduct performance evaluations.
• Partner with the Controller and Finance leadership on continuous improvement initiatives.
• Model companies culture and foster a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA or active CPA candidate strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years supervising.
• Experience with Sage Intacct, Ramp, and Martus preferred.
• Nonprofit accounting background and private restrictive funding preferred.
