Our client is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Family Office Controller to oversee the financial operations of our family office.
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain proper internal controls and segregation of duties within the accounting system and department.
- Establishes accounting policies and procedures that enhance the efficiency of accounting processes while incorporating best practices.
- Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial statement preparation.
- Conducts thorough reviews of schedules and documentation prepared by the accounting staff for all 150+ Unity Hunt entities.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to family members and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
- Conducts comprehensive reviews of complex transactions to ensure proper documentation and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Assist and/or oversee all financial operations of the family office, encompassing budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Collaborate with external auditors and Investment Controller for all audited companies.
- Assist with special projects and initiatives as directed by the family office leadership.
- Manage and mentor a small accounting team, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment. Maintains confidentiality for all corporate, stakeholder, personnel and research matters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA Required
- Minimum of 5+ years as a controller OR
- 5+ years of experience at a large company as an assistant controller
- Company must have internal controls
- Family office experience is NOT required
- If they have worked for a family office operating company (versus the family office side), that would be preferred
