The Controller is responsible for the financial health of the Company, providing strategic and operational financial leadership. This role involves budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting to support the owner and senior management evaluation of the manufacturing plant performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management
- Oversee all financial operations of the manufacturing plant including cash management, AR and AP processing functions.
- Develop and implement financial strategies to achieve business goals.
- Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
- Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and provide insights for improvement.
Cost Control
- Implement cost control measures to enhance profitability.
- Analyze production costs and identify areas for cost reduction.
- Work with procurement and plant manager to improve inventory management, ensuring accuracy and minimizing waste.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accounting principles and company policies.
- Prepare and file sales and use tax reports.
- Provide detailed financial analysis and reports to senior management.
- Support annual audits and federal and state tax return preparation and ensure timely completion.
Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with plant management to develop and execute business strategies.
- Provide financial insights to support decision-making and operational improvements.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks.
- Maintain and improve internal controls and procedures.
Competencies and Skill Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as controller or assistant controller in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of GAAP principals in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated understanding and oversite of AR, AP processes.
Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- ERP implementation experience preferred
