Our client, located in Addison, is looking for an Assistant Controller to join their team on a contract basis for the next 2 months.
This role is fully onsite.
Position Overview:
The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in overseeing the company’s accounting operations. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and efficient management of accounting staff and processes. The Assistant Controller also contributes to budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
Key Qualifications:
- Full-cycle general ledger and FP&A experiences are required
- Must have a bachelor’s degree
- A CPA is a bonus
- Must have strong Excel skills (including pivot tables and VLOOKKUPs) for large volumes of data
- Must be a self-starter who can take ownership
- QuickBooks experiences are a bonus, but not required
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with GAAP and company policies
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to guide management decisions
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
- Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions
- Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits
- Support tax filings and regulatory reporting requirements
- Research and resolve accounting issues, ensuring compliance with standards
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic initiatives
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- CPA certification strongly preferred; CMA or MBA a plus
- 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including supervisory responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory compliance
- Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, QuickBooks)
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
- Strong communication skills for presenting financial insights to management
- Leadership and mentoring skills to guide and develop accounting staff
