Position Overview
A well-established college-preparatory private school in North Dallas is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its collaborative Business Office. Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
- Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
- Prepare monthly management reports and analyze budget-to-actual variances
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure strong internal controls
Accounts Receivable & Tuition Management
- Oversee tuition billing, collections, and account reconciliations
- Partner with internal departments to ensure accurate account setup and billing adjustments
- Monitor outstanding balances and assist with collection efforts
- Record fundraising and development-related accounting entries
Accounting Operations
- Review payroll and accounts payable reporting for accurate general ledger posting
- Assist with year-end audits, tax reporting, and financial compliance
- Support process improvements, reporting enhancements, and ongoing accounting initiatives
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation
- Solid understanding of general ledger and accounts receivable accounting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and communicate professionally with a variety of stakeholders
Preferred
- Experience in education or nonprofit accounting
- Familiarity with tuition management or student information systems
- Familiarity with Blackbaud (or the ability to learn quickly)
