The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in the financial operations at the company, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in accounting, particularly within the architecture or construction sectors. The Accounting Manager will collaborate closely with the Controller and other team members to support financial decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts, providing insights into revenue and expense trends.
- General Ledger Maintenance:
- Ensure accurate and timely posting of all transactions to the general ledger.
- Review and reconcile accounts on a monthly basis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Oversee the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate payment of vendor invoices.
- Manage accounts receivable functions, including invoicing clients, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts.
- Payroll Accounting:
- Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll journal entries, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and accuracy in employee compensation.
- Audit Support:
- Prepare documentation and work papers for external audits, ensuring all financial records are accurate and complete.
- Collaborate with auditors to facilitate the audit process and address any issues that arise.
- Financial Analysis:
- Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, including profitability analysis on projects and cost management initiatives.
- Provide recommendations for improving financial performance based on analysis findings.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers to track project budgets and financial performance.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior accounting staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis; experience in the architecture or construction industry is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with project management software is a plus.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
