Overview of Position
Our client in Coppell is looking for a Senior Lease Accountant who is responsible for overseeing the accounting and reporting of the Company’s lease portfolio in accordance with ASC 842. This role will support the month-end close process, maintain lease accounting systems, analyze lease modifications and new agreements, prepare journal entries and reconciliations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the Company’s lease accounting records in compliance with ASC 842.
- Review and analyze executed lease agreements, amendments, renewals, terminations, and other lease-related documents to determine the appropriate accounting treatment.
- Prepare monthly journal entries related to lease liabilities, right-of-use assets, rent expense, variable lease costs, and other occupancy related expenses.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for lease-related accounts and investigate and resolve reconciling items timely.
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including preparation of supporting schedules and analyses.
- Assist with the preparation of footnote disclosures and other lease-related reporting requirements for internal and external financial statements.
- Assist in preparation of financial reports and financial statement review.
- Assist with the annual budget process.
- Assist with internal & external audits to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) & GAAP compliance.
Experience and Skills Required
- BS or BA, concentration in Accounting
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- Experience in a retail, multi-location, or publicly traded environment preferred.
- Experience with MultiView a plus
- Experience with lease administration/accounting systems (e.g., Lucernex)
