Position Overview:
The Accounts Payable (AP) Manager oversees a high-volume payables function within a growing, service-oriented organization. This role is responsible for the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of all vendor payments, as well as leading process improvements, ensuring strong internal controls, and managing a collaborative team. The AP Manager serves as the subject matter expert for accounts payable operations, workflow, and ERP systems.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and manage the Accounts Payable team to ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and payments
- Oversee monthly AP close, including account reconciliations, accruals, and reporting
- Review and approve staff work, ensuring adherence to company policies, US GAAP, and SOX requirements
- Manage vendor relationships and resolve discrepancies with internal departments and external partners
- Monitor and reconcile vendor accounts, purchase orders, and invoices to maintain accurate records
- Identify and implement process improvements, system enhancements, and workflow efficiencies
- Prepare AP metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for management reporting
- Support technology upgrades, ERP implementations, and financial process reviews
- Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate staff performance
- Collaborate with client services and accounting teams on vendor onboarding and client-related payables

- Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Customer-service mindset with strong attention to detail
- Strong understanding of AP systems, workflows, and ERP platforms
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5–7+ years of progressive AP experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities
- Experience in high-volume, service-based, or shared services environments preferred
