Our Hospitality client in Dallas is looking for a Controller.
Position Summary
The Controller is responsible for all aspects of the accounting function, including property and consolidated reporting, treasury and cash management, accounts payable, payroll and financial analysis. This individual will provide oversight of general ledger operations, internal controls, audits, and compliance, while serving as a key liaison between the Accounting team and senior leadership.
This role combines strategic financial leadership with hands-on operational accounting across roughly 30 hotel properties.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Close, Reporting & Compliance
- Lead and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including preparation and review of financial statements.
- Ensure the integrity of accounting records and adherence to GAAP, company policies, and internal control standards.
- Coordinate annual financial audits, state and city tax audits, and tax filings with external auditors and owners. File monthly Occupancy and Sales Tax returns for legal entities owning multiple properties.
Cash Management & Treasury
- Manage daily monitoring and weekly cash flow forecasting, bank account reconciliations, and funding allocations for hotel operations.
- Evaluate working capital requirements and provide cash reporting to leadership.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
- Support annual budgeting and bi-monthly forecasting for properties.
- Review variance analyses and provide financial insights to support decision-making.
- Partner with operations to improve financial performance.
Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, promoting a culture of accountability and collaboration.
- Provide training on accounting systems, processes, and controls to ensure consistent performance.
- Drive efficiency through automation, process documentation, and cross-departmental communication.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required; CPA required
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or Controller role.
- Experience in hospitality, real estate, or development accounting preferred; multi-entity experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control frameworks.
- Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with hospitality accounting systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, M3, Yardi, Timberline, or similar).
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.

- Reporting Relationships: Reports to: Chief Operating Officer.
- Team Size: Supervises: Three Property Accountants, Two Accounts Payable Associates, and a Payroll Specialist.
