Corporate Controller
Position Summary
The Corporate Controller will oversee day-to-day general accounting functions across multiple international entities and serve as a key partner to executive leadership. This role will lead treasury operations, financial reporting, audits, tax compliance, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives. The Controller must have a strong technical foundation in U.S. GAAP, expertise in standard cost inventory accounting, and proven success managing complex, multi-entity environments. Experience leveraging emerging technologies, including AI-enabled reporting and automation tools, is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all general accounting functions across U.S., Mexico, and UK entities.
- Manage treasury operations, including daily cash positions, forecasting, and banking relationships.
- Oversee month-end close process and ensure timely, accurate financial statement preparation for monthly business reviews.
- Serve as primary contact and leader for annual external audit; assemble and prepare audit work papers.
- Sales tax and value-added tax returns, and maintain compliance with federal, state, and international tax laws.
- Oversee inventory accounting using standard cost methodology; review cost accounting processes; monitor monthly physical inventory results.
- Analyze, maintain, and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Approve check requests and expense reimbursements for designated employees.
- Oversee credit management functions.
- Analyze sales, COGS, margins, and SG&A expenses.
- Provide financial data and analysis to executive leadership to support strategic decisions.
- Partner with operations and external insurance broker to support risk management.
- Establish, document, and monitor internal controls.
- Act as the NetSuite ERP subject matter expert; drive system utilization and optimization.
- All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
- Current CPA license required.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Knowledge of sales tax laws, franchise tax law, and general federal/state income tax regulations.
- Strong general ledger accounting knowledge and ability to prepare supporting documentation.
- Familiarity with cost accounting and standard cost inventory systems.
- Detail knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); general knowledge of treasury management tools and ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred).
- Excellent communication and supervisory skills; ability to interact with executive leadership.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- General knowledge of business law; strong research and problem-solving skills.
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- CPA required.
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive controller-level or senior accounting experience; manufacturing environment preferred.
- 2+ years of federal and state income tax experience helpful but not required.
