We are assisting our client seeking an experienced and analytical Plant Controller to oversee all financial aspects of the manufacturing plant operations located in Westlake, Louisiana. This role will be responsible for cost accounting, financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, and driving operational efficiencies. The Plant Controller will work closely with plant leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making and cost control initiatives.
Core Functions & Responsibilities:
- Oversee all plant financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Develop and maintain cost accounting processes, ensuring accurate product costing, standard cost updates, and inventory valuation.
- Ensure the integrity of financial and site business control systems.
- Ensure that the Plant Standard Cost Accounting System accurately reflects manufacturing cost by product.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, operational expenses, and production efficiency to drive cost reduction initiatives.
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing activities, ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with plant leadership to implement and monitor financial controls and compliance procedures.
- Provide financial analysis on capital expenditures, inventory management, and production variances.
- Accountable for leading and coordination of the annual plant budgeting process.
- Accountable for the hourly payroll data entry.
- Manage accounting records of inventory, fixed assets, and all financial data in accordance with company policies, GAAP, and standard cost accounting principles.
- Accountable for local vendor management.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for operational efficiency and cost savings.
- Prepare financial reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for senior management.
- Assist in annual audits, tax compliance, and SOX/internal control requirements as applicable.
- Other duties as required.
Knowledge Requirements and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 7-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a strong background in cost accounting and financial analysis.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP strongly preferred), advanced Excel skills, and knowledge of GAAP and standard cost accounting principles.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication and leadership skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in lean manufacturing, process improvement, and operational efficiency strategies is a plus.
- Full-time position with extended hours during peak periods (e.g., month-end and year-end closings).
