Our Real Estate Investor is looking for a Controller to join their team. This is an individual contributor role that reports to the President. This role will be responsible for all of the general accounting functions as well as partnership accounting, waterfalls and financial reporting as it relates to the designated operating partners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for all accounting related to month-end close, journal entries, accruals, amortization/depreciation, reconciliations, and payroll/benefits management.
• Overseeing the flow of financial reporting from business partners and operators to internal and external customers.
• Establishing and implementing policies and procedures to help the company optimize reporting of financial results.
• Researching, identifying, and informing management about changes in accounting policies and procedures and advising on their impact to the company. Working with operators to implement as necessary.
• Understanding the financial structure of company/partner relationships and the implications on the company.
• Understanding the accounting implications on reporting metrics.
• Analyze budget/forecasting variances
• Track and manage mortgages, property taxes, capital expenditures, leases, and commissions as tenant improvements for partnership funding
• Managing accounting projects and working with other departments on company-wide initiatives
• Managing audit, statutory reporting, and tax reporting deadlines for team.
• Gather feedback and information from team to identify issues for resolution and manage process improvement projects
• Communicate effectively with investors, lenders and stakeholders
• Provide financial analysis that helps management make informed decisions
• Comfortable wearing multiple hats
• Offer new ideas to streamline processes and systems
• Performing other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance
• CPA highly preferred
• 4 – 5+ years experience in the Commercial Real Estate industry
• Yardi experience required
• Strong Excel skills required
• Waterfalls and Partnership Accounting required
• Enthusiasm to learn all facets of the company so as to contribute to its growth
• Entrepreneurial mindset a huge plus
