Vice President of Finance & Accounting
Location: Hybrid – DFW
Reports To: VP Finance and then President
Travel: Monthly to California (until transition completes)
Core Responsibilities
1. Financial Leadership
- Own and manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow modeling, and monthly P&L reporting
- Lead cost accounting, including BOM reviews, inventory valuation, and COGS analysis
- Conduct month-end and year-end close processes with accuracy and timeliness
- Approve weekly check runs and ACH payments, ensuring financial controls and documentation standards are upheld
- Serve as primary internal owner of our ERP system (Acumatica) and related financial reporting workflows
- Supervise a direct report responsible for AR, AP, and day-to-day accounting entries
- Lead regular financial review meetings with operations, sales, and the GM
2. M&A Readiness & Strategic Finance
- Lead financial preparation for a future private equity or strategic exit
- Build and manage data rooms, conduct EBITDA normalization, working capital modeling, and support financial due diligence
- Prepare and present reporting packages for investment banks, buyers, and board-level stakeholders
- Support margin improvement, pricing strategy, and long-range strategic planning
3. Accounting & Compliance
- Supervise AR, AP, and payroll verification activities
- Coordinate with external CPA on tax planning, compliance, and filings
- Oversee Form 5500 filings for 401(k) in partnership with TPA
- Manage and ensure timely renewal of key insurance policies:
- General business insurance
- Workers’ comp
- FEMA flood insurance
- Oversee financial management of affiliated entities 4. Relationship Management
- Act as primary liaison with banking partner, including LOC management and financial disclosures
- Lead benefits strategy and coordinate annual open enrollment (Dec 1) with insurance broker
- Partner with HR on high-level compliance issues and sensitive personnel matters
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Deep knowledge of absorption-based cost accounting, including standard cost systems
- Strong command of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
- Experience supporting M&A transactions, including due diligence and transaction prep
- Fluency in ERP systems (e.g., Acumatica, NetSuite, SAP, etc.)
- Self-sufficient, hands-on operator comfortable executing and managing
- Able to navigate both strategic boardroom work and ground-level processes
Preferred but Not Required
- CPA, CMA, or MBA
- Experience with PE-backed or founder-led exits
