Responsibilities:
• Prepare and validate the accuracy of journal entries and related accounting classifications, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Review vendor invoices to determine if expenditures should be expensed or capitalized in line with the company’s Fixed Asset Policy and GAAP guidelines.
• Accurately record disposals, retirements, and additions of new assets—including the application of cost segregation studies when capitalizing buildings or improvements—per internal policy.
• Execute and document internal cost segments as needed, and coordinate external cost segmentation for major initiatives.
• Track project-related costs within CIP (Construction in Progress) accounts and ensure timely closeout upon project completion.
• Reconcile fixed asset sub-ledgers with the general ledger on a monthly basis and ensure correct balance sheet categorization.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly variance analysis related to fixed asset activity.
• Support internal and external audits by furnishing necessary documentation and explanations during quarterly and annual reviews.
• Assist in the financial integration of mergers, acquisitions, or joint ventures into existing accounting systems.
• Contribute to ERP system upgrades, patches, and other finance-related system testing or rollouts.
• Meet all month-end close requirements and adhere to defined internal control practices.
• Maintain and enhance job expertise by engaging in professional development activities such as training, reading industry publications, and networking.
• Handle sensitive data responsibly and uphold confidentiality standards.
• Provide support on ad hoc projects and other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
• Minimum 3 years of experience working with fixed assets
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage time effectively
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with solid problem-solving abilities
• High attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Familiarity with enterprise financial platforms (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or PeopleSoft) is preferred
