Senior Accountant – Operational Accounting
We are seeking a Senior Accountant with a strong foundation in accounting and a proven ability to drive transformation. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is excited to contribute to the evolution and modernization of accounting processes. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Operational Accounting, this individual will play a key role in both traditional accounting responsibilities and strategic transformation initiatives aimed at improving accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute accounting tasks related to month-end close, general ledger management, journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Drive finance transformation projects by identifying inefficiencies, recommending improvements, and implementing process automation and modernization strategies.
- Support the company’s accounting transformation roadmap, helping evolve systems, controls, and workflows for scalability and efficiency.
- Own and improve accounting functions such as cash reconciliation, payroll, lease accounting, prepaids, and accruals.
- Oversee intercompany accounting and ensure integrity of balances across multiple entities.
- Participate in the transformation of the ERP environment, with a focus on optimizing Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar platforms.
- Prepare detailed balance sheet reconciliations and variance analyses to support a faster, more efficient close.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Tax, and Treasury to support broader digital finance transformation efforts.
- Create and maintain documentation and accounting memos that reflect changes made through transformation activities.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP while applying forward-thinking approaches to accounting operations and reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Information Systems; CPA or CMA eligibility preferred.
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in an organization undergoing finance or business transformation.
- Deep understanding of GAAP and internal controls; experience in investment accounting or financial services is a plus.
- Demonstrated success in leading or contributing to transformation initiatives, such as ERP upgrades, automation projects, or workflow redesigns.
- Strong experience with large ERP systems like Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Excellent Excel skills and a passion utilizing technology to automate processes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to drive change management and cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
