Job Summary: The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing the company’s bi-weekly payroll process, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. This includes calculating paychecks, withholding taxes, processing deductions, and maintaining detailed payroll records. The role requires adherence to all relevant tax and labor laws and involves close collaboration with Talent Management (HR) to maintain compliance and address payroll-related inquiries.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enter, maintain, and process information in the payroll system, including employees’ compensation, time worked, paid leave, holidays, deductions, and withholding.
- Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, garnishments, and other deductions.
- Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.
- Issue or reissue physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharges.
- Review and process weekly employee travel expenses.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective time management and self-discipline.
- Ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with ExponentHR or the ability to quickly learn payroll software.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Four years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with at least two years of payroll experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
