Irving area client is looking for a Global Travel & Expense Manager on a contract basis for the next 6 months (possible extension)

The Global Travel & Expense (T&E) Manager & Subject Matter Expert provides interim functional support to sustain business-as-usual (BAU) operations during a period of transformation. This contract role ensures continuity, stability, and compliance of the global travel and expense program while core resources focus on transformation initiatives.
This individual acts as a hands-on SME responsible for operational support, issue resolution, and maintaining existing processes, systems, and controls across T&E platforms. The role partners closely with Finance, Accounting, Payroll, IT, HR, Procurement, Internal Audit, Tax, and external vendors to support day-to-day activities and global end users.
The assignment is expected to be 6 months, with potential extension.
Key Responsibilities
1. BAU Program Support & Governance
· Support the global T&E program to ensure continuity of operations across all regions.
· Maintain and enforce existing travel and expense policies aligned with internal controls and compliance requirements.
· Act as an interim SME for T&E-related inquiries, decisions, and escalations.
· Work with our offshore support team to ensure no disruption in service in BAU.
2. Operational Support & Issue Resolution
· Serve as the primary escalation point for complex T&E issues and system defects during the transformation period.
· Support day-to-day operations, including:
o Expense report submission issues
o Approval and reimbursement delays
o Corporate card reconciliation issues
o Policy interpretation and exception handling
· Partner with IT and vendors to troubleshoot system issues and manage support tickets.
· Identify recurring issues and implement short-term, practical solutions to stabilize operations.
· Act as day-to-day liaison with T&E vendors, travel management companies (TMCs), and corporate card providers.
· Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to maintain service levels during transformation.
· Monitor SLAs and ensure timely resolution of support requests.
· Ensure existing internal controls are consistently followed.
3. Reporting & Operational Monitoring
· Deliver standard and ad-hoc reporting to support Finance and operational needs.
· Monitors spend visibility, policy compliance, and user activity.
· Highlight operational risks, trends, and areas requiring attention.
4. Documentation, Training & Knowledge Support
· Maintain existing process documentation and job aids.
· Provide guidance and support to end users, approvers, and finance teams.
· Assist with knowledge transfer and documentation updates.
Technical & Functional Skills
· Strong functional knowledge of SAP Concur (Navan exposure is a plus).
· Experience supporting system administration and configuration in a live environment.
· Familiarity with ERP integrations.
· Strong Excel and reporting capabilities.
· Understanding SOX controls, and compliance requirements.
