September 4, 2024JOB SUMMARY
This is for the Controller position in Fort Worth, TX. The Controller reports to SVP Finance & Accounting and is responsible for the accounting operations of the company including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. This position is also responsible for daily overseeing accounting operations, invoicing functions as well as cash management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)
- Manages the Invoicing process to ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices and approves credit when applicable and aligned with company policy
- Responsible for maintaining the fixed asset ledger, depreciation calculations, capital expenditure requests and compliance with the company capital expenditures policy
- Supports the Accounts Receivable process by providing back up to the Credit Manager and coordinating cash flow information for reconciliations; required to learn and understand the bond process in the highway construction industry
- Responsible for division financials and yearly audits
- Responsible for payroll reconciliation and 401k audit and compliance
- Responsible for the general ledger of the company including account reconciliations, account structure and accurate and supported general ledger transactions
- Manage annual audit with outside auditors including field work
- Review and analyze the inventory on a monthly basis to ensure quantity and cost is accurate and regularly reviews slow moving and obsolete inventory for reserves
- Review and analyze invoicing on a monthly basis to ensure transactions are accurate, aligned with budgets, and in compliance with company policies; Manage expense report and credit card programs
- Create and communicate monthly financial reports, including variance comments, that provide value and assist in the achievement of budget and highlighting of issues and potential future variances
- Report monthly, quarterly and annual sales and use tax reports for applicable states and oversee property tax payments
- Responsible for the organization and oversight of the year end physical inventory of inventory and cycle count process
- Supports job costing, including raw materials, wip, and finished goods
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 4-year degree in Accounting or related discipline
- CPA preferred
- 7-10 years of similar experience, including supervisory roles
- Manufacturing and Cost Accounting experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Excellent Excel skills and solid working knowledge with other Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with ERP systems and ability to learn, understand and follow related system transactions
- Previous ERP upgrade and implementation experience preferred
- Desire to learn report writing in ERP system through the support and guidance of consultants
- Detail oriented, organized and embracing a strict adherence to schedules
- Able to grasp, understand and prioritize issues and complete work as required
- Requires minimal supervision while possessing excellent supervisory skills to lead the financial team to the highest level of excellence
