Position Overview
This role will oversee all aspects of accounting and financial operations. This role includes managing the accounting department, developing and maintaining internal controls, and providing financial insights to support strategic decisions. This role will report directly to the company’s Partner/CFO and will supervise a team of staff accountants.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, benefits, construction draws, and general ledger
- Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy
- Prepare monthly financial statements, job costing, and management reports
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting on construction projects
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support company leadership in strategic planning
- Manage and mentor accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment
- Interact with third party CPA firm
Qualifications
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction/home building industry
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to thrive in dynamic or ambiguous work situations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong cross-functional collaboration skills
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- A positive, can-do attitude and a team-oriented approach to leadership
