Responsibilities:
• Lead the development and standardization of accounting processes across the organization
• Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements
• Implement best practices within shared services operations
• Ensure consistent procedures across multiple business units or locations
• Manage and mentor accounting staff within the shared services team
• Provide training, guidance, and performance management
• Establish departmental goals and monitor team performance metrics
• Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment
• Ensure adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
• Support internal and external audit processes
• Assist with month end close processes related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tax accounts
• Maintain documentation for financial controls and procedures
• Oversee the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice processing, approvals, payment execution, and vendor reconciliation
• Ensure accurate and timely payment of vendor invoices in accordance with company policies and payment terms
• Maintain strong internal controls and proper segregation of duties within the accounts payable function
• Manage vendor relationships and resolve invoice discrepancies
• Lead initiatives to improve accounts payable efficiency and workflow
• Oversee the accounts receivable process, including invoicing, collections, cash application, and account reconciliation
• Monitor aging reports and partner with sales and operations teams to resolve past due balances
• Establish and maintain effective credit and collection procedures
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of customer payments
• Manage sales and use tax compliance across all applicable jurisdictions
• Oversee tax filings, payments, and reconciliations
• Monitor nexus requirements and changes in tax regulations
• Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors as needed
• Maintain documentation and support for tax audits
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2 in a supervisory role
• Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and indirect tax processes
• Experience in a multi entity or multi location environment preferred
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial controls
• Experience with ERP or accounting systems
• Experience in shared services or centralized accounting environments
• Experience with sales and use tax compliance across multiple states
