RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own all aspects of the firm’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and month-end close processes
- Prepare and deliver accurate, timely financial statements and management reports to leadership
- Monitor revenue recognition, accounts receivable, and retainer/success fee collections across active and closed engagements
- Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors; coordinate annual tax filings and compliance obligations
- Evaluate and advise on the financial implications of business decisions, including hiring, compensation structuring, office infrastructure, and technology investments
- Maintain and improve financial controls, policies, and procedures
- Oversee day-to-day firm operations, including vendor management, facilities, technology infrastructure, and office administration
- Serve as the primary point of accountability for HR functions, including onboarding, benefits administration, payroll, and employee relations in coordination with external HR resources as needed
- Develop and maintain firm-wide policies, procedures, and operational playbooks that support a professional, scalable infrastructure
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency
- Manage and maintain the firm’s technology stack, including CRM, deal management platforms, document systems, and financial software
- Serve as a key member of the firm’s senior leadership team, contributing a financial and operational perspective to strategic planning, growth initiatives, and firm-level decision-making
- Support the Business Development team with financial data, market intelligence, and engagement economics analysis as needed for pitch and proposal development
- Assist in evaluating and structuring new service offerings, compensation models, and partnership arrangements from a financial and operational feasibility standpoint
- Act as the internal point of escalation for operational issues that could impact deal execution, client experience, or firm reputation
- Develop and maintain an active recruitment effort for talented, ambitious individuals to fill senior positions within the company. This includes cultivating a network of reliable recruiters, assessing inbound resumes, and conducting interviews for positions before any immediate need arises.
- Cultivate early-career talent pipelines (interns, analysts, and associates) through engagement at target university career fairs, with a focus on finance, accounting, and economics programs.
- Work with senior leadership to encourage, develop, and guide the younger members of the team so that they can ultimately evolve into senior leaders themselves.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of progressive experience with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role
- Prior experience in a financial services, investment banking, advisory, or professional services environment a plus
- Demonstrated success managing the financial and administrative operations of a small firm
- Strong proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting tools, and accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)
- Working knowledge of payroll platforms, HRIS systems, and benefits administration
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with financial reporting and business intelligence tools is a plus
