Responsibilities include various aspects of the monthly close, annual audit, tax returns, and financial internal controls as well as continued improvements to current internal financial processes. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain various accounts and ledgers ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and nonprofit accounting practices
- Ensure complete and compliant closing of books, including preparation of journal entries on a daily basis
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly for multiple accounts
- Import Revenue from Database gifts/donations
- Analyze revenue import vs. the journal entry and make corrections if needed
- Report on and reconcile investment funds managed by management
- Ensure daily posting of deposits, including gifts, as well as all other account and ledger maintenance, such as maintaining fixed assets ledgers
- Review and approve AP subledgers prior to posting
- Back-up to accounts payable and cash disbursements
- Assist Controller with preparing monthly and annual consolidated financial statements
- Assist Controller and outsourced accounting team with analysis of financial results to identify, explain, and correct variances as needed
- Assist with the external audit process as requested by Controller and outsourced accounting firm and external auditors
- Assist in the preparation of various tax returns including the Form 990
- Assist in maintaining proper internal financial controls within the organization
- Special projects as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business required
- 3-5+ years of professional-level experience, including experience with financial accounting
- Experience in non-profits preferred
- Proficient with Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
- Blackbaud experience a plus+
- QuickBooks Online experience a plus+
- Ability to track multiple projects and funds simultaneously, including follow-up on changes to projects/funds
