Our client, located in Fort Worth, is looking for an Interim Controller to join their team at least through the end of October, with the possibility of extending to the end of the year.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Monthly, Quarterly, and Year-end closing process
- Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable
- Cash Receipts and Cash Management
- General Ledger
- Budgeting and Forecasting
- Revenue and Expenditure variance analysis
- Lead the transition from MRI software to Yardi, ensuring seamless integration and optimization of accounting systems.
- Record fixed asset transactions (acquisitions, capitalization, dispositions, transfers and depreciation).
- Reconcile mortgage and reserve balances.
Financial Analysis and Compliance
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities for optimization, conducting revenue and expenditure variance analysis.
- Manage the monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to address any issues or concerns.
- Work with treasury on cash management, calculating cash needs at weekly, monthly, and long-term intervals.
- Manage bank account administration
- Lead/ participate in audits and other compliance related activities.
- Coordinate entity tax return(s) with third party CPA firm.
- Prepare/ coordinate year end 1099s.
Team Leadership and Development
- Manage and oversee the operations of the accounting department once established.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet client expectations.
Strategic Planning and Implementation
- Collaborate with ownership, management, and key stakeholders to develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and financial performance.
- Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies.

- Stellar ability to analyze, evaluate, and compile data into concise reports and presentations.
- Solid understanding of GAAP, other regulatory requirements, and expert-level knowledge of financial accounting principles.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- 7-10 years experience in Controller position
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field + CPA required
- Proficiency in Yardi and MRI
- Prior experience in a start up environment preferred
